ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The training program was developed by the Institute in collaboration
with the European Association for Gestalt Therapy (EAGT) and meets international standards

Training is conducted in Georgian-English and Georgian language, according to the program in compliance with the training standards of the European Association for Gestalt Therapy (EAGT)

Form of training - process-oriented offline and online learning;

Within the framework of the program, students master Gestalt theory and practice step by step, consistently and dynamically.

The training program strictly takes into account the European standards for the training of Gestalt therapists, and the training is carried out according to the program and lasts for 5 years

During the course, the Gestalt therapeutic method is studied in accordance with the European training standards of psychotherapy

As a result of such systematic education, after the third year of study, the student is given a recommendation to start private practice in the psychotherapeutic clinic of the institute, in the existing psychotherapeutic clinics and centers, under the guidance of appropriate supervision

Our Gestalt therapy program has already had three groups of graduates:
in 2017, 2018  and 2020

25 graduates of the institute from Georgia and 2 from Armenia have already received European licenses for Gestalt therapy (accredited members of the European Association of Gestalt Therapists) and membership in the European Association of Psychotherapists

The remaining graduates from Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia are in the process of accreditation

EDUCATIONAL DOCUMENT

After graduating the course, the graduate receives an internationally recognized diploma  in Gestalt therapy of post-diploma professional European education, which allows to receive EAGT accreditation, also accreditation of EPA and other international professional associations if desired.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

The Institute organizes

  • 130 hours of group supervision;
     

  • 296 hours of group psychotherapy; 
     

  • 680 hours of Gestalt therapy teaching-theory/methodology;
     

  • 60 hours of studying modern methods of psychodiagnostics;
     

  • 46 hours of personality theory and developmental psychology;

I Course:

200 hours - group psychotherapy (5 blocks, 40-hour, 5-day Gestalt therapy group trainings per year),

II-III courses: 

 

530 hours - theory and methodology of Gestalt Therapy. 

One 5-day training (40/45 hours) in 2/4 months including weekends;

144 hours of intervision;

144 hours of work in triples;

 

Lecture Courses:

Clinical psychology and psychosomatics - 32 hours;

Social psychology - 22 hours.

IV course:

 

145 hours of theory and methodology. 

200 hours - psychotherapeutic practice. 

Work in individual (15 hours) and group (64 hours) supervision;

200 hours of psychotherapeutic practice;

64 hours group  supervision;

72 hours of intervision;

16 hours of individual supervision;

Preparation of a thesis under the guidance of one of the methodology teachers.

Defense of the thesis online.

Presentation of the thesis in the form of a lecture or seminar at the International Conference of our Institute.

Training Period: 5 years

After 3 years, the participant of the program is granted the status of Gestalt practitioner

This status allows the Gestalt practitioner to begin work, to conduct psychological counseling and psychotherapy under the guidance of his/her personal supervisor 

in psychotherapeutic clinics, centers and organizations recommended by the institute..

Typically the training (in accordance with EAGT training standard) covers minimum 600 hours.
We have 675 actual contact hours with minimum 4 different trainers

(this could be lectures, master classes, seminars, reading sessions, etc.).

Leader of the Training Program - Sofia Verulashvili

 

Sofia Verulashvili - psychologist, coach, supervisor and psychotherapist accredited in Europe (by EAGT), secretary of the Executive Committee of the European Association for Gestalt Therapy (EAGT). Ms. Sofia Verulashvili is the president of the Association of Psychologists and Psychotherapists, the founder and general director of the Caucasus Institute of Gestalt Therapy and Family Psychotherapy, the founder and vice-president of the Association of Gestalt Therapists of Georgia. Sofia Verulashvili is the only family psychotherapist in Georgia, she leads groups in family psychotherapy with leading world specialists, such as Steven Young, Russell Haber, Lars Brok, Thomas Todd, Manuel Martinez, Steve Simms and others. He has 24 years of continuous practice as a psychologist, psychotherapist, supervisor and coach, trainer and lecturer. Sofia Verulashvili is the head of the international training program of Gestalt therapy and family psychotherapy. She works with individuals, couples, family and group psychotherapy. Since 2000, Sofia has been giving lectures at various Georgian universities. At the moment, she is the head of the lecture course, Basics of Psychotherapy, Complementary Psychotherapy and Clinical Psychology, she gives couples psychotherapy lectures for master's degree students in psychodiagnosis and counseling program at St. Andrew Georgian University. Also, at the moment, he is the supervisor of the lecture course, "Couple and Family Psychotherapy" for the first-year students of the master's program of Family Psychotherapy at the University of Georgia. Also, at the moment, she is the supervisor of the lecture course, "Couple and Family Psychotherapy" for the first-year students of the master's program of Family Psychotherapy at the University of Georgia. Sofia Verulashvili organizes and leads therapeutic and educational groups, seminars in family therapy and Gestalt Therapy in Georgia, Latvia, Turkey, Moldova, Italy, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Ukraine.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS:

Any interested applicant with at least a bachelor's degree in medicine, psychology and social work or a master's student in these specialties from the Caucasus region and other countries can apply for training.

 

Preference is given to the candidates with a bachelor's, master's, or doctorate degree in psychology, social work, psychiatry, or philosophy.

 

Those wishing to study in this program must prepare the following documents:

 

• resume in English and Russian and/or Georgian;

• a copy of the diploma/diplomas of higher academic education in related fields of knowledge;

• 2 photos ¾;

• one regular photo;

• completed Admission Form in English, Georgian and/or Russian;

Note
Before signing the contract, advanced payment of the tuition fee for the last year of the course in the amount of 2000 euros and the first quarter fee in the amount of 500 euros is required.​

In the future, tuition fees are paid once every 3 months in the amount of 500-500 euros in accordance with the agreement.

Prepayment is required as the group is closed, that means the training is carried out for 5 years with a constant composition of students.

In case a student leaves the training for any reason, he/she will not be replaced by another participant
